New Town, a pleasant community of 1,500 friendly folks. located in the "Heart of Lake Sakakawea" offer visitors a myriad of ways to enjoy a day, a weekend, or even an entire vacation! New Town is big walleye fishing country, and boasts of one of the most spectacular bridges in the country: The Four Bears Bridge, spanning Lake Sakakawea and connecting New Town and the headquarters of the Three Affiliated Tribes; the Mandan, the Arikara, and the Hidatsa Nation.

Getting into the water is a snap - choose from seven boat ramps and four marinas, all within 20 minutes of New Town. From the heart of Lake Sakakawea, you'll be able to fish 70 miles of lake in each direction. The New Town Marina is one of the few ramps on the lake capable of accommodating boats during low water.

Located on North Dakota Highway 23, New Town is an easy place to find. Or if you choose to come by plane, land at our airport - featuring a 3,000 foot lighted and paved runway and a new ramp area complete with tie-downs.
 
 
 

 

New Town is a bustling rural community located on the shores of Lake Sakakawea. Numerous recreational opportunities exist in the New Town area including extraordinary walleye fishing, boating, hunting and bicycling.
