Lake Sakakawea
Only one word is needed to describe Lake Sakakawea country - big. From the massive two-mile long Garrison Dam near Riverdale to the end of Lake Sakakawea near Williston, this lake is nearly 200 miles long with a shoreline of countless bays and inlets that cover 1,600 miles. (This is more than the distance from North Dakota to the eastern coast!)

Fishing tournaments are popular on the "big lake" as well as other lakes in the area, and camping is a family or individual hobby that many folks enjoy while visiting the area. Numerous campsites are available, offering rates that everyone can appreciate.

Hunting
For upland game hunting, you can't beat New Town. We have over 60,000 acres of public access land available - all within 30 miles of New Town.

Four Bears Bridge
As motorists approach the 4 Bears Casino & Lodge from the east, they cross the spectacular, mile-long Four Bears Bridge - a bridge with a story of its own to tell.

The original Four Bears Bridge crossed the Missouri River at Elbowoods, a small community 35 miles west of Garrison. However, the community and the bridge had to be relocated when the Garrison Dam project was finished. Elbowoods, along with the town of Sanish & Van Hook, were relocated and renamed "New Town." New Town's history has been linked with the bridge's history ever since the bridge was dedicated in 1955.

The original bridge still remains, comprising the central part of the current bridge.

Both old and new bridges honor past leaders from the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nations, including Charging Eagle, Red Buffalo Cow, Flying Eagle, Black Eagle, Waterchief, Pour Wolf, Porcupine, Crow Paunch, Bobtail Bull, Son of the Star, Old Dog, Bear Son, Crow Flies High, and others.

The bridge features a plaque summarizing the history of the site, keeping tribal history alive.
